Payments
Credit Cards
Beginning August 1, 2001, the University cashiers will no longer be able to accept credit cards for student account payments as a result of a change in policy made by the University. To permit you the choice, however, the University has contracted with an outside vendor to provide this service.
The vendor will charge a non-refundable convenience fee to the credit card user based on the amount of the payment. This convenience fee is for the use of the service and retained in full by the vendor. The fee schedule may be viewed on our web site at www.columbia.edu/students/sfs/nccp2.html.
To use this service, you must know the amount you wish to pay and have available the student's social security or nine-digit Columbia University identification number and the credit card that will be used. (Effective March, 2002, Master Card and Discover are accepted.)
This service is available by telephone (Interactive Voice Response) and by internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your student account will be updated with the payment information within two business days.
If you have a hold on your account due to an outstanding balance and need to have it removed immediately, make note of the confirmation number you are given after your credit card payment has been accepted. Contact Student Accounts in 210 Kent Hall at (212) 854-4206 (where you may bypass the messages by pressing 3 and then pressing 1), or through email at sfs@columbia.edu. With the confirmation number, SFS staff will be able to verify payment and manually remove your hold if applicable.
This service is provided by PhoneCharge, Inc.
To make payment using the Interactive Voice Response system, call toll free from within the United States (877) 737-6977. (International callers: please see note below.)
