NOTE: FFE and AP/CAR will work on Windows 2000, but please be aware that CUIT does not support this operating system.

 

 

Instructions for installing the new versions of AP/CAR and FFE

New as of: Saturday, November 21, 2009 5:00AM

 

1. You must have administrator rights for your computer in order to install the upgrade. If you do not have administrator rights you must contact your department’s IT department to install it for you.
2. First uninstall AP/CAR and FFE. BOTH applications must be removed even if you plan to install only one.
1. Click Start
2. Click Settings (If you do not see this on your menu you can skip to the next step)
3. Click Control Panel
4. Click Add or Remove Programs (Vista users click on Programs and Features)
5. Look for all of the following:

                                                              i.      Financial Front End vFFE

                                                            ii.      APCAR (Accounts Payable – Controlled Analytical Review)

                                                          iii.      VFFE

                                                          iv.      VFFE Requires Sybase for Windows NT and Windows 2000

                                                            v.      APCAR

                                                          vi.      Google Desktop (only if you plan to install AP/CAR)

6. For each item you find do the following

                                                              i.      Click the item

                                                            ii.      For non-Vista users, click the Remove or Change/Remove button located on the line with the item. For Vista users, click the Uninstall or Uninstall/Change button on the top of the list

7. If any windows come up asking for confirmation, click Yes or Continue or Allow or whatever choice it prompts you with other than Cancel
8. Make sure you have removed all the listed items before moving to the next step
2. Remove icons on desktop
1. Minimize all programs so you can see your desktop (You can press Windows+D or the Show Desktop button on the task bar to make this easier)
2. Look for the following icons:

                                                              i.      VFFE

                                                            ii.      VFFEFixIt

                                                          iii.      VFFE No Updates   or

                                                          iv.      CARProd

                                                            v.      Get CARProd Image

                                                          vi.      Look for any other AP/CAR or VFFE icons (VFFE Test users can leave their VFFETest and VFFETestFixIt icons)

3. For each icon found do the following:

                                                              i.      Right click on it

                                                            ii.      Left click on Delete

                                                          iii.      If you are asked to confirm, click on Yes or OK

4. Remove items in Start Menu
1. Click Start
2. Click Programs (might be All Programs for Vista users)
3. Look for all of the following:

                                                              i.      CUIT

                                                            ii.      VFFE

                                                          iii.      APCAR

4. For each one you find:

                                                              i.      Right click on it

                                                            ii.      Left click on Delete

                                                          iii.      If you are asked to confirm, click on Yes or OK

5. Reboot your computer
6. Install AP/CAR and/or FFE as needed
1. AP/CAR

                                                              i.      Go to the website http://www.ais.columbia.edu/car/cardownload.htm

                                                            ii.      Click on the filename link

                                                          iii.      You should get a window with choices to Run, Save, or Cancel

                                                          iv.      Click Run

                                                            v.      Click the Next button on the Welcome screen

                                                          vi.      Click the Typical button on the Setup Type screen

                                                        vii.      Click the Install button on the Ready to Install screen

                                                      viii.      For Vista users, click the Allow button on the User Account Control window if it appears

                                                          ix.      Click the Finish button on the final screen

                                                            x.      To install the software to View Documents, go to http://www.columbia.edu/acis/software/onbase/ and follow the instructions.

2. FFE

                                                              i.      Go to the website https://wwwa.ais.columbia.edu/ffe/download.html

                                                            ii.      Click on the filename link

                                                          iii.      You should get a window with choices to Run, Save, or Cancel

                                                          iv.      Click Run

                                                            v.      Click the Next button on the Welcome screen

                                                          vi.      Click the Typical button on the Setup Type screen

                                                        vii.      Click the Install button on the Ready to Install screen

                                                      viii.      For Vista users, click the Allow button on the User Account Control window if it appears

                                                          ix.      Click the Finish button on the final screen

7. Reboot your computer
